Happy Times and Places 66.2 - Remembrance of the Daleks 2

Racism! Blindness! Bronsonicide! This episode has a variety of talking points but it was a joy to record, especially when guest Charles Norton (he of Doctor Who animations) is such an erudite and thoughtful contributor. This is a great episode of the new science fiction adventure series : but will host Toby Hadoke agree?

Oh, the Time Controller comes out of its drawer (and Noel Edmonds' props cupboard) and Ratcliffe's men put their back into it, but this episode is a bit of a milestone in your host's life so prepare for some memories of this episode's very first broadcast (which as you know was only a couple of years ago). Charles Norton is on hand to give some fine commentary - and this one's a close run thing so let's see if there is agreement between this mighty Doctor Who animation producer and your host.

Well this one has been quite the love in. And hiost Toby Hadoke has taken the unusual step of reading out some of subscribers' correspondence in the post-credits meander. But are Charles and he going to agree or we will get involved in some rough-and-tumble that is controversially edited out?

Happy Times and Places OMNIBUS - Human Nature/Family of Blood
Monday Oct 09, 2023
Monday Oct 09, 2023
That very silly Wheezer and Groaner Paul Litchfield chooses surely one of the most remarkable Doctor Who stories of all time. Plenty to choose from and much to talk about as he and your host Toby Hadoke go back to school and learn to love pears!

Too Much Information 4.6 - Mighty Kublai Khan

The penultimate episode of this epic historical journey. The lead actor is ill again, it's a tense record in the studio involving injuries and retakes, and two of the cast members go on to lead very interesting lives: and this podcast will take you every step of the way.

Happy Times and Places OMNIBUS - Four to Doomsday
Monday Oct 16, 2023
Monday Oct 16, 2023
James Goss has recently written something called Doomsday (well, Doom's Day)! Was he hinting? Was this all part of some kind of cunning clue? Or just a coincidence. Well, it's two hours of coincidence, repackaged for your omnibussing pleasure. Enjoy!

Happy Times and Placs 67.1 - Fear Her
Friday Oct 20, 2023
Friday Oct 20, 2023
Please note that this episode was recorded before anything was known about the illegal (and despicable) activities of BBC newsreader Huw Edwards. So if mention of him - in any context - offends you, then maybe skip this episode. If not, listen away, and bear in mind that if it were recorded today some of the things said within this episode would no longer be said (because time and context are impotant factors when listening to archive programmes, and bearing them in mind is better than rewriting or withdrawing history: which doesn't do anyone any favours).
Well, surprisingly, everyone has a whale of a time with this much maligned slice of Tennant. Journalist and writer Mark Campbell is an enthusiastic advocate for this story, but which bits is he holding a torch for. And more importantly, will they be loved by your host? And by Bob. Bob? Bob? Oh not you too Bob.

Happy Times and Places 68.1 - Meglos 1
Monday Oct 23, 2023
Monday Oct 23, 2023
Friend of the show Frazer Gregory is on hand to advocate for an unloved entry into the late Tom Baker period. Let's hope things don't get too spiky. Will Frazer's favourite part of the episode be the same as host Toby Hadoke's - will they agree or will they just keep repeating the same argument over and over again?

Happy Times and Places 68.2 - Meglos 2
Friday Oct 27, 2023

So, the Doctor and Romana finally get to the planet Tigella after deliberately fluffing their lines ... and we have just noticed that Tigella has autocorrected itself to Nigella which has made us giggle and certainly puts the Meglos luring Caris into his dark cupboard and suggestively showing her what is in his hands in a completely new light! Haha. Well, guest Frazer Gregory won't be choosing that as his favourite thing of the epsiode, but will he be able to convince you, and host Toby Hadoke, that Meglos is worth more love than it currently gets?

This instalment of Doctro Who contains some very memorable few scenes for hiost Toby hadoke who distinctly remember watching this episode going out. Some moments from it are seared into his brain. But will they remain his favourite moments? Or has time been unkind? Those childhood memories certainly won't be his guest Frazer Gregory's best bits unless he watched this, for the first time, in Toby's head. Which is unlikely. But then, so is a giant walking cactus man and a planet of murderous tulips...
